Castelot Summer Scripture 2012

(06/18/2012 - 06/21/2012)

This summer we are delighted to welcome back Warren Carter, Gina Hens-Piazza and Jerome T. Walsh.

The model is pretty simple. It is not like school, but rather set in the context of prayer – morning and evening prayer, afternoon Eucharist. It is meant for ordinary people who have a love of scripture and a thirst for deeper understanding.

We invite you to spend some quiet time to let the Word be with you.

The Biblical Prophets: Foundation for Ministry in a Global Context.

The shape of prophetic ministry is as variegated as the communities to which we are called to serve. The prophets offer a persistent image that attends to the variety of the challenges of this call.
These presentations will consider the new ways the prophets become a relevant model for expanding nations of ministry in our global church.

Reading Genesis as a Unified Whole

The book of Genesis is eternally fascinating. Historical critical scholars have, for more than two centuries, struggled to isolate the oral and written sources that compose it; and that debate continues. In recent years, however, critical scholars have begun to ask how, for more than two millenia, people have managed to read Genesis as a coherent unit.
These lectures will attempt to explore the books detailed structural and thematic unity.

Introducing Jesus: The Infancy Narratives

The opening chapters of the Gospels of Matthew and Luke introduce Jesus to the Gospel readers. These chapters introduce key perspectives, as well as pose questions that readers will answer by reading on through the Gospel. In these five sessions, we will think about the wonderful narratives that comprise Matthew Chapters 1 & 2 and Luke Chapters 1 & 2.
